Consistently ranked among the top beaches in the country, Ogunquit Beach offers over three miles of soft sand and rolling waves that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and beach games. The long shoreline makes it a great place for a walk, whether you are up early to catch the morning light or winding down at sunset.
Hugged by the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Ogunquit River and grassy dunes on the other, Ogunquit Beach is only accessible in three spots: Main Beach, Footbridge Beach, and North Beach.
Main Beach
Main Beach boasts miles of pristine sand, perfect for sunbathing, building sandcastles, or simply soaking in the crystal-clear waters. Embraced by the vast expanse of the ocean on one side and the serene Ogunquit tidal river on the other, the Main Beach beckons visitors with its tranquil beauty. Take a refreshing dip in the ocean or explore the Ogunquit River, ideal for tubing or paddling.
During the summer months, the Norseman Resort Beach Store offers an array of beach essentials such as toys and snacks, alongside convenient services like beach chair and umbrella rentals.
If you're looking to grab a cocktail or sit down for lunch with a view, consider visiting Splash, boasting outdoor deck seating overlooking the beach, or the Ogunquit Beach Lobster House which overlooks the picturesque Ogunquit River. For a quicker bite, Charlie's On the Beach and Dairy King offer take-out options.
The town center is also just a short walk up Beach Street, where you'll find numerous other shops and restaurants.
Restrooms and outdoor showers are available at Main Beach.
Town owned parking lots are available right at Main Beach as well as at Lower Parking Lot on River Road, just before crossing the bridge. Privately owned parking is available at the Worster Parking Lot further up Beach Street. Be mindful of parking, during peak season it can fill up by 10am so arrive early to secure your spot.
Parking at all town owned lots can be paid for using your phone with the Passport or Park Mobile app. Just look for a sign displaying the parking zone number where you parked.
Footbridge Beach
Footbridge Beach is located north of Ogunquit Village and can only be reached by crossing a wooden footbridge that spans the Ogunquit River. This beach is a little farther from the bustle of town and tends to be a bit quieter than Main Beach, making it a great option for families or those looking for a more peaceful beach experience.
The river side of the beach is a favorite for kids, who love spotting crabs, searching for sea creatures, and filling buckets with shells and interesting rocks. There’s also a convenient ramp from the parking lot into the river that is perfect for launching kayaks and paddleboards.
Public restrooms are available but pack your own snacks and drinks as there are no vendors on-site.
A town-owned parking lot is available at Footbridge Beach, but it fills quickly during peak season, so it's best to arrive early. The Ogunquit Trolley also stops at Footbridge Beach, offering a convenient alternative if parking is full.
